- April 22, another Rwandan massacre dealth toll around 2,000.
- May 1, fighting escaltes between Bosnia and Croatia.
- June 27, US Space shuttle docks with Russian space station Mir.
- September 5, France explodes nuclear device in the Pacific; protests ensue.
