1999 Events

Events listed on this post may include things like injuries that cross calendar months, college courses, and selected actual “real-life” events that transpired that year, etc. I’m listing these type of events in one location since they are not specific full blown missions.

  • January 4th – J.C. Finishes college from entering the previous November 1998.
  • January 5th – J.C. Begin college again.
  • February 2nd – J.C. Finishes college.
Events
  • April 20, Columbine school shooting 12 students killed, one teacher, and then the 2 gunmen killed themselves.
  • July 15, John F. Kennedy, wife Carolyn Kennedy and her sister Lauren Bessette are lost at sea in a plane crash near Martha’s Vineyard, off the Massachusetts coast.
  • August 17, A magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Turkey kills more than 15,600 and leaves 600,000 homeless.
  • October 12, The Pakistani government is overthrown in the midst of economic strife and fighting with India over Kashmir.
  • All year – the Y2K bug (computer chips thinking that 1/1/00 = 1/1/1900 instead of 2000) concerns many. Certain theorists warn of Armageddon.

May 2-4, 1999

Operation: Muschel Spiel
Code Name: Minerva

Location: Delhi, India

Admin: Dave

Agents: Caspian, Nighthawk, JC

Notes: Spike roof, catwalk in warehouse, “ugly girl/good looking girl”.  Briefing.

Injuries:Nighthawk out till 6/5/99

This mission begins in Istanbul, Turkey at the Ataturk International Airport. This location was only used as a gathering place for the beginning point of the mission. The bulk of the mission took place in Delhi, India. The above link will take you to a document that shows the first email message received by the agents and then the overview the agents got of the mission briefing (which was verbal) at Ataturk International Airport. I’ve added the note for the mission payment, XP, & timeline of the mission. When I first ran the mission, I managed to screw up the initial timeline, but it is corrected on the calendar and by notes in the file. This mission is where Rob uttered his great comment on the pretty girl vs. the ugly girl. The agents had been working for a couple of hours on a hastily scribbled map that I made of a certain area. When circumstances permitted, the agents finally moved off of the scribbled map and onto the “nice” big color map of the area where they ultimately would be going. At this point, Rob had us in stitches with his comment.
